Q. What are some romantic things to do in Aruba on our wedding anniversary?
Any advice on excursions and romantic things to do in Aruba? Any romantic restaurants that you would recommend? (We are staying at one of the High Rise Resorts).
A. There are plenty of romantic things to do in Aruba.
Beaches
Aruba has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The ones near the High Rise and Low Rise areas are especially beautiful, and well cared for. Palm Beach, (High Rise Hotels) is nice but it can get busy and crowded. Eagle Beach (Low Rise Hotels) is a wider less crowded beach. For a more quiet beach, I would recommend taking a day trip to Baby Beach on the south-eastern tip of the island. It is one of the best public beaches for snorkeling.

Exploring the Island
I would certainly recommend renting a car or jeep
at least for a few days out of the trip to explore everything the island has to offer. There is a cove called Boca Prins on the northern side of the island that is very secluded. To get there, some climbing and walking on rough rocks is involved, so were sneakers, not flip flops. The water here is not good for swimming, since the currents and waves can be very turbulent on that side, but, bring a picnic lunch and a bottle of wine for a romantic lunch for just the two of you. Talk to the concierge at your hotel. Most hotel restaurants can make a really yummy to-go basket for a romantic getaway.

If your "romantic things to do in Aruba" include adventure and excitement, there are several group tours to explore the island, including a 4x4 tour and ATV tours which are the only way to get to the Natural Pool. There are horseback riding tours, bus tours, and helicopter tours. And of course there are snorkel tours. Our favorite snorkel tour was Jolly Pirates. Of course, downtown Oranjestad and the Palm Beach area has plenty of shopping, casinos and lots of restaurants. There are lots of water sports. You can rent jet skis, you can go scuba diving, you can go on a submarine or a semi-sub and see the reefs up close. If you like hiking, the Arikok National Park has a lot to offer - climb Mt Hooiberg (on a clear day you can see across to Venezuela). Tour the park independently or book a guided hiking tour. For a really romantic, fun-in-the-sun-day, visit the private DePalms Island. (Food and drinks are included). If you go snorkeling here, the Blue Parrot Fish will eat right out of your hand! And the Sea Trek or the Snuba underwater tours add some excitement to a lazy day at the beach.
Romantic Restaurants
Of course the most romantic things to do in Aruba is savoring mouth-watering cuisine and sweet concoctions while watching the brilliant sunsets turn into silvery moonlit evenings over the Caribbean Ocean. Our recommendations: Our #1 favorite was the Flying Fishbone. It is an intimate beach-side restaurant that is perfect for a sunset and/or moonlit dinner. Choose a table on the waters edge, and you can eat delicious cuisine with your feet dangling in the Caribbean surf. (Don't worry, they have shoe racks...) However it is in the old fishing village of Savaneta on the south-eastern side, and is a distance from the resort areas which can be expensive by taxi. Save this for a day that you rent a vehicle. Low Rise Hotel Area - Passions Beach Bar & Restaurant, at the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort. High Rise Hotel Area - Pelican's Nest Seafood & Grill Bar (Pelican Pier, Palm Beach) located on the beach between the Holiday Inn Sunspree and Playa Linda Resort.
