Destination weddings are becoming more and more popular these days. And for good reason too!
Stress Free Planning
A destination wedding is almost guaranteed to be simpler (and faster!) to plan than a traditional wedding and reception.
Here are some tips to help you with your destination wedding planning.
Resorts and cruise lines around the world have recognized this growing trend and have made it even easier and more appealing to have the wedding in the same place as the honeymoon. The term "Weddingmoon" was born.
Many hotels have full-time wedding coordinators on staff who are familiar with that country's marriage license requirements. But, be sure to do your research too.
Here is what you need to know about getting married in Aruba
including information on Sunset and Beach weddings, legal requirements and Religious Ceremonies.
The hotels also offer wedding packages that take care of all your ceremony essentials. (i.e.
photographer,
cake, minister, etc.) and the reception planning as well. You can almost step off the plane and sign the papers while they take care of the rest.
(If you do some pre-planning ahead of time, that is.)
Every family is going to have some issues as the couples merge. Our families could not agree on the location. We live near Chicago, the rest of my family lives in the Boston area and his family is scattered across the United States. Everyone had an opinion about where OUR wedding should be held and why.
Since we did not want to have our wedding in Chicago, our wedding, by definition, was going to be a “destination wedding” no matter what. All we needed to do is to decide where we wanted to go. We talked about a tropical beach wedding, so we chose the island of ARUBA.

Destination weddings make sense financially. Aruba has several all-inclusive resorts where a couple can get married, and stay for a deluxe week-long honeymoon for a few thousand dollars, including lodging, meals, drinks, and airfare. Compare that with your average 150-guest wedding.
Of course the all-inclusive wedding packages are usually meant for very small, intimate weddings, i.e. the bride, groom and two witnesses. But, almost all the resorts can put together a wedding package that can satisfy your style, budget, and number of guests.
Vacation with Family and Friends
Destination weddings are once in a lifetime reunion opportunities. You are on vacation the moment you arrive, which is usually a few days prior to the wedding. So by the time your wedding day rolls around you have had several days of fun and celebration with your significant other, your family, and friends. Many of our guests stayed a few days afterward too.
