Hello again everyone,

This month, a friend of mine ask me if I could let my readers know about a timeshare that her boyfriend wanted to list for rent. Of course I agreed. When she told me the details, I knew I had to get this out ASAP!

He has 15 weeks available on Eagle Beach for $950 a week. All of them are in the High Season from January 30th – March 6th, 2011. There are several units available during Aruba Carnival, and school vacation. This is an excellent deal for an inexpensive family Aruba vacation since most units sleep up to 6 (with pull-out sofas), and all of them include a fully-equipped kitchenette and separate living room area. All the details can be found here.

Also, if any of my readers are (or know someone who is) a Penn State Alumni, check out the fifth annual Penn State Family Escape to the Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort.

In my last newsletter, I wrote about the palapa legal debate going on between the Aruba government and the hotels. The latest news on this is that the palapas are to be removed from all beaches in accordance to the law. I received feedback and opinions from some of you regarding this... Most of the comments were negative. I just need to reiterated that I am JUST THE MESSENGER HERE... This decision lies solely in the hands of the legal system of Aruba.

Some News Worthy Events This Month

Aruba artists, many internationally renowned, now have a place to display and sell their pieces. Being an artist myself, as well as being a member of the Aruba Arts Community, this is an exciting step forward. Kenneth Faustin, an art connoisseur and certified auctioneer, in collaboration with the Divi Corporation, has started a weekly art auction at the Divi Links Resort (The Divi at the Golf Course).

The weekly exhibit opens at 3:00 pm Thursday for viewing and bidding begins at 4:00. This is a great opportunity for those who appreciate fine art and are interested in owning and displaying unique mementos of Aruba. Mediums include oils, acrylics, watercolors, block prints, photography and silk paintings from Aruba's artists.

The Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival 2010 is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Moomba Beach. (October 8-9) So, if you are going to be there, be sure to check that out.

And some really BIG news!

There is a new development being built on the south-eastern side of Aruba by Alex Nieuwmeyer, an avid golf enthusiast and General Manager of Divi Properties in Aruba.

The property being developed is a stretch of land between the large red anchor that marks the entrance to the old Lago Colony and extend up Hospital Hill. The proposed 270-room luxurious resort and condominium complex will be centered around a world class 18-hole course. Mr. Nieuwmeyer was very clear in indicating that the new development WILL NOT impede access to either Baby Beach or the popular kitesurfer beach, Boca Grande.

With the Parliament restrictions on new hotel construction in the Palm Beach-Eagle Beach-Druif Beach areas now in place, the Southeastern tip seams to be the next logical step for hotel and resort developers. I think this is just the first in a new wave of tourism and travel related expansion on this side of the island.

THANK YOU!

Thank you all for helping Aruba-Sunsets to become one of the most visited Aruba websites around.

I started this site in November, 2008, just three months after we returned from our romantic Aruba beach wedding. Back then, I could never have imagined that it would become what it is today!

Thanks also, to the folks at “SBI!”. It is their software that made it possible for a “regular” person like me to create a business on the internet.
